The Two Things Everybody Wants (and Needs)

As one of my mentor coaches, Beverlee, once told me, “Business owners want two things above all else – to be organized and profitable!”
I’ve never forgotten her phrase and wisdom. And while all small business owners want something uniquely important - what gives it life and probability to your deeply important goals is being organized and profitable.
Even for non-business owners, being organized and “profitable” (eg. not living paycheck to paycheck) in your own life is a gateway to a smoother, less chaotic, more growth-minded, fulfilling life.
Life and business are messy. You’re never fully caught up. Sure, there are fleeting moments of calm and joy… but they don’t last long. Which is why being organized and financially healthy matters: it helps you navigate the mess with steadiness and clarity.
So whether it’s for your business or your life, getting more ‘organized & profitable’ is to your benefit – so that you can continue to move toward the life you’ve always envisioned for yourself. The life that money can’t buy. The one that only you could design… because it’s exactly what you deeply want.
Here are my top “quick pulse check” self-leadership questions that, when explored, give you the clarity & drive you need to be organized, profitable, and fulfilled:
1. Who are you and what do you stand for? In a noisy Social media space with algorithms that are increasingly creating toxic division and extreme opinionation, it’s very important to know what you say ‘yes’ to, and what you say ‘no’ to, what your strengths and weaknesses are, what your purpose & mission are, and what your boundaries are for your values and relationships.
What are you willing to fight for – even die for?
2. What’s your morning routine to set your mood/state and priorities for the day? What is your system for prioritization? And related, how consistently do you schedule your strategic thinking and reflection time?
3. How do you intentionally nurture your closest relationships?
4. How do you find time every week for growth and learning about something you’re interested in, that moves the needle on your growth and self-leadership?
5. How do you consistently look after your health?
6. How do you intentionally contribute or give back to the community (local or beyond)?
Sit down for a few minutes and answer each one of these questions for yourself. Write down the key insights & ideas you come up with. If you're willing...the answers will give you instant clarity.
At the end of the day, being organized and profitable isn’t the final destination… it’s the foundation. It’s what clears the space for you to create the life only you can design: the one aligned with your deepest values, filled with the people who matter most, and marked by the fulfillment money can’t buy. That’s the real win.
Clarity, confidence, and commitment – lived, not just talked about – are the drivers.
